Blending Scandinavian warmth with Japanese minimalism, Villa Mirari by Alora Design Studio transforms a 4-bedroom Bengaluru villa into a serene sanctuary of understated elegance. Crafted by architect Sushmi S of Alora Design Studio, this 4-bedroom villa was envisioned as a haven of simplicity and individuality for a young couple, Shalini and Aakash, who live with his mother and sister. Inspired by the Japandi aesthetic, the home merges the cosy ethos of Scandinavian hygge with the organic calm of Japanese wabi-sabi, resulting in a space that exudes tranquility and subtle luxury.
A Welcoming First Impression
From the moment one steps inside, Villa Mirari captivates with its thoughtful design. The sunlit living room is a harmonious blend of warm and cool neutrals, anchored by a textured feature wall adorned with jute cladding. Bespoke furniture from Hugsofa adds sculptural elegance, while arches—a favorite motif of Shalini’s—gracefully frame the space, extending their influence throughout the home.
Functional Elegance in Shared Spaces
The dining area, nestled beneath a staircase, cleverly incorporates storage solutions while maintaining its aesthetic appeal. Adjacent to this, a pristine white puja unit integrates traditional charm into the home’s contemporary narrative. The kitchen, a study in monochromatic sophistication, features a quartz countertop and stone-textured tiles, marrying style with functionality.
Personalised Private Retreats
Each bedroom in Villa Mirari tells its own story while contributing to the home’s cohesive design language. A low-lying platform bed set against a grooved concrete wall exemplifies the home’s Japanese-inspired ethos in the master bedroom. A stone veneer adds rugged texture, while a custom black-stained study desk introduces an experimental edge.
Tropical wallpaper and wooden-cane details infuse the mother’s suite with warmth and vitality, extending across ceiling rafters, wardrobe shutters, and a curved mirror frame.
Soft beige tones and slender stucco arches in the sister’s room create a soothing retreat, complemented by a taupe-upholstered bed and a bold black-stained wooden study corner.
Inverted gypsum arches and jute cladding form a striking backdrop, paired with a dusty pink bed that adds a pop of colour and comfort in the guest suite.
A Sanctuary of Creativity and Relaxation
The second-floor media lounge is a vibrant space featuring a tapestry from House of Ikari that depicts Japan’s iconic landscapes. This artistic focal point ties together the home’s overarching theme of serene individuality.
Villa Mirari by Alora Design Studio is a narrative of thoughtful design and personal expression. With its fusion of Japandi aesthetics, functional elegance, and bespoke details, the villa captures the essence of tranquil living. Architect Sushmi S has crafted a space that resonates with the family’s aspirations, offering a sanctuary where simplicity meets sophistication.
