A vessel for memories and global treasures by Hivemind Design LLP

This Gurugram home by Hivemind Design LLP feels like a living canvas, where every corner, texture and artifact has been thoughtfully placed to tell a story. It’s not just a residence—it’s an immersive experience, where design becomes an expression of life, culture and personal history.

The ask: “They sought a space that would feel intimate yet expansive, allowing for fluid interactions between private and shared zones. Additionally, they wanted the design to serve as a vessel for their global collectables, turning their travel mementoes into an intrinsic part of the home’s identity,” says Vikrant Sharma, Founding Partner and Principal Architect, Hivemind Design LLP.

The journey begins the moment one steps off the lift. Instead of an ordinary entryway, you’re greeted by a transitional space that acts as a prelude to the home’s narrative. Warm, earthy tones wash over the lift lobby, setting a serene, welcoming tone. It’s like crossing the threshold into a different world—one where the ordinary is left behind, and every detail is infused with purpose.

From here, the path leads you into the entry foyer, the apartment’s heart and soul. This isn’t just a space to hang your coat; it’s where the home’s essence begins to unfold. Nestled within is a mandir, a sculptural sanctuary of peace. Its pristine white platform and elegantly sculpted hood create an atmosphere of quiet contemplation, grounding you in a sense of calm that echoes throughout the residence.

As you move forward, the formal living area emerges, a refined canvas painted in shades of white and punctuated with sculptural accents. Here, nature meets art—a bonsai tree stands as a miniature art, while abstract insect motifs add a playful, unexpected twist.

Beyond the formal lounge, the space begins to open up, flowing into the informal lounge and dining area. This open-plan zone feels expansive, yet intimate. At the center of it all is the show-stopping Kit-Kat Bar—a fractured onyx monolith that glows with an inner luminescence, its golden hues shifting with the light.

Adjacent to the bar, the meticulously designed wine cellar invites one to explore further. Its ambiance complements the bar’s luminous charm, offering a space that feels both luxurious and relaxed, perfect for unwinding with friends or savouring a quiet moment alone.

The journey continues through the central foyer, a pivot point that leads one to the private quarters. The primary suite feels like a retreat from the world. A standout feature here is the convertible console, a beautifully crafted piece that blurs the lines between furniture and functionality.

One of the children’s rooms envelops itself in serene whites, accented by pops of colour, while the other embraces an interactive design.

Textured plaster and subtle wallpapers add depth to the walls without overwhelming the senses. The ceilings are kept unobtrusive, allowing sculptural lighting fixtures, like those from Catellani & Smith, to emerge as striking focal points.

Bespoke furniture pieces add another layer of artistry, merging functionality with aesthetic beauty. Artworks by Ayesha Singh and Nidhi Agarwal punctuate the space, while Japanese-inspired decor in the private areas adds a sense of balance.

The colour palette is equally deliberate. A serene neutral base runs throughout, with whites, woods and metallics. In contrast, the Kit-Kat Bar introduces bolder hues—golden tones, deep earthy shades, and illuminated textures. The bedrooms follow a spectrum-based approach: the master suite in rich, deep tones, while the children’s rooms play with contrasts.

The team prioritised adaptive reuse, retaining structural elements to minimize waste and reduce the environmental footprint. Ethical sourcing of materials, energy-efficient LED lighting, and intelligent zoning reflect a commitment to modern sustainability standards without compromising luxury.

What sets this home apart is its ability to merge restraint with expression. “We believe in crafting spaces that are not just visually striking but deeply personal and intuitive.” says Vikrant Sharma. And that’s exactly what this abode feels like—a home that isn’t just lived in but experienced.
