Blending sculptural spatial flow, rich materiality, custom-crafted furniture, an opulent marble bar with a striking hand-blown glass chandelier, dynamic MADRIX-controlled lighting, gallery-like curated art, a sophisticated earthy colour palette, layered textures, thoughtfully arranged seating, and exclusive vault spaces, QEY transforms dining into an immersive design experience
In a city that thrives on movement, QEY: Sip and Vault is a deliberate pause. Tucked away in Kamala Mills, this isn’t just another upscale dining spot—it’s a design-forward escape where architecture, interiors, and curated art take centre stage. Designed by Umesh Desai & Associates, QEY’s interiors are a playful yet polished mix of spatial layering, bold material choices, and atmospheric depth. The layout is anything but predictable—think distinct zones that shift in mood and function, from vault-like private spaces for intimate gatherings to open seating that invites conversation. The result? A venue that feels sophisticated without trying too hard.
The first thing that grabs your attention? Arched entrances, sculptural elements, and vaulted ceilings, giving the space a rhythmic flow. The earthy yet elevated palette—a blend of warm wood, olive greens, and deep charcoals—creates a rich yet understated backdrop for the drama unfolding on every plate.
Materials that Speak Volumes
QEY is all about texture. The space effortlessly mixes polished marble, brass accents, plush velvet, and handcrafted woodwork, making every surface a tactile experience. Custom-designed furniture ensures that comfort and statement-making design go hand in hand, with a variety of seating styles that cater to different moods—high tables for lively groups, cosy nooks for quiet conversations, and VIP enclaves for a touch of exclusivity.
The bar area is an absolute showstopper. A sculptural marble countertop anchors the space, framed by ambient lighting that shifts throughout the evening. Overhead, a bespoke chandelier installation of hand-blown glass acts as both art and light source, adding a little theatrical flair to every drink poured.
Art and Light: The Unsung Heroes
Here, art isn’t an afterthought—it’s woven into the very fabric of the space. The walls double as curated galleries, featuring a mix of contemporary sculptures, statement paintings, and handcrafted installations. A striking custom mural, blending European and Indian influences, adds layers of storytelling to the experience.
Lighting is another star player. A layered lighting concept, powered by MADRIX technology, lets the space shift moods effortlessly—offering warm intimacy for date nights and vibrant energy for social gatherings. From cove lighting to sculptural wall fixtures to softly glowing table lamps, the space adapts, making sure every moment is lit just right.
Where Experience Meets Design
At QEY, design isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about how people feel in the space. The private vaults offer a cocoon-like retreat, enveloping guests in moody lighting, plush textures, and a sense of secrecy.
“We didn’t want QEY to feel like just another beautifully designed restaurant,” says Umesh Desai. “It had to be layered—something that engages the senses, creating an interplay of materials, light, and art that’s deeply immersive.”
A New Benchmark in Hospitality Design
QEY doesn’t shout about luxury—it whispers it. The design is intuitive, the details considered, and the atmosphere effortlessly cool. Here, it’s all about creating a rhythm between space, light, and art, ensuring that every visit feels distinct.
This isn’t just a restaurant. It’s a mood, a moment, a place that leaves an impression without ever needing to try too hard.
