Tucked away in the heart of Mumbai, this 3000 sq. ft. apartment by Fine Lines Designers Pvt Ltd effortlessly merges classic elegance with modern sophistication. The space features four generous bedrooms, each with its own attached bathroom, alongside separate living and dining areas. The design strikes a perfect balance between comfort and luxury, offering a home that feels both grand and functional. Expansive windows frame views of a vibrant green garden, adding a touch of tranquility to the space.
The floors throughout the apartment are laid with Terrazzo Kalinga, an engineered marble that captures the essence of classic flooring while offering the durability and sophistication of modern materials. This sets the foundation for the overall design, which seamlessly blends old-world charm with fresh, contemporary touches.
The primary bedroom and bathroom stand out as the defining features of the home. In the bedroom, the wardrobes are fluted, with long, custom-made handles adding a sleek, modern touch. The TV unit, made from fabric panels featuring floral prints, adds a vibrant pop of color to the room. The bed’s quilted fabric headboard creates a perfect balance between comfort and luxury. In the corner, an antique roll-up writing desk enhances the vintage appeal of the space.
The primary bathroom is a work of art in itself. The walk-in wardrobe, covered in fabric, is paired with a stunning mosaic artwork of a woman, stretching from floor to ceiling. The bold, colorful design of the mosaic creates a striking focal point. The basin counter, crafted from an antique carved console, has been creatively repurposed to serve as a functional bathroom feature, with a mirror above reflecting its detailed craftsmanship.
Living spaces that speak to the past and present
In the living room, antique paintings bring a sense of history to the space. Given the apartment’s lower ceiling height, furniture has been kept minimal and functional. The low beams are cladded with veneer, adding warmth and texture while keeping the room from feeling cramped.
A double door leads to the TV room, which continues the theme of thoughtful design. This room is finished with fabric accents and polished wood, with brass handles that add an antique touch. An Art Deco wardrobe, made from teak and rosewood, acts as the centerpiece of this space, adding character and a touch of old-world luxury.
Antique treasures and thoughtful colour schemes
Throughout the apartment, antique items have been carefully chosen to enhance the design. One such piece is a carved door, sourced from an antique shop, which is hung on the wall directly opposite the main entrance. This piece instantly draws the eye and creates a memorable first impression. The color palette throughout the home remains neutral, with carefully selected soft furnishings such as bedcovers from Sarita Handa and cushions sourced from various places adding subtle pops of color. In the living room, a folding paper screen, framed between glass and wood, is placed behind the sofa, becoming a unique focal point that adds character to the space.
