There is light infiltrating from every creek and fold of this home. Something that we instantly liked about Mrignain is how it balances natural light with its thoughtful layout, enhancing both spaciousness and warmth. Located in the heart of Mumbai, Mrignain by Neha Garg’s Studio Jane Design in collaboration with Royal Home Spaces integrates ethnic elements with contemporary flair, offering a practical yet elegant living space. From its striking entrance to the carefully curated interiors, Mrignain provides a glimpse into a world where style meets substance, creating a serene retreat for its inhabitants.
As one step into Mrignain, they are greeted by a majestic custom-designed matt gold panelled PU entrance door, setting the tone for what lies beyond. The central marble staircase immediately draws the eye, connecting seamlessly the two levels of the duplex and serving as a focal point of elegance and functionality.
The ground floor layout is designed with both aesthetic appeal and practicality in mind. The living room takes center stage, flanked by the entertainment and prayer rooms on one side, and the bedrooms for parents, guests and kids on the other. Each bedroom exudes a unique essence tailored to its occupants, with natural light filtering in through nearby windows enhancing the compact yet functional dining area.
Ascending to the upper floor reveals two additional bedrooms, strategically dividing communal and private spaces. This thoughtful arrangement enhances both functionality and aesthetic appeal, ensuring every corner of Mrignain serves a purpose while maintaining a sense of spaciousness.
“The client desired a luxurious home reflecting their values and living style in a modern aesthetic. They specifically wanted to blend ethnic elements with contemporary design while optimising space” says Neha.

The overarching theme of Mrignain revolves around emotional resonance within each space. Bespoke design elements such as thematic wallpapers, natural materials like lime plaster and wood flooring, and bold accents like the matt gold entrance door contribute to creating unique environments that celebrate family values and lifestyle.
Carefully chosen materials such as marine-grade plywood for bathrooms and energy-efficient lighting underscore the project’s commitment to sustainability. Each element not only enhances aesthetic appeal but also contributes to creating a healthier living environment for the occupants, reflecting a holistic approach to design.
The colour palette of muted tones like beige serves as a serene backdrop, balanced by vibrant accents strategically placed to inject energy and personality into the space. Natural light plays a crucial role in harmonising these elements, ensuring each area feels open, airy, and inviting.
Mrignain’s unique selling points include its innovative use of space-efficient solutions such as Murphy beds and multifunctional furniture, which optimise every square foot without compromising comfort or style. Design challenges, such as low ceiling heights and adherence to Vastu principles, were overcome through strategic lighting, vertical space optimisation, and careful material selection.
