In the heart of the serene and lush neighborhood of Delhi NCR, a 4500 sq feet apartment underwent a remarkable transformation, courtesy of Nehaa Rakyan, Founder and Creative Designer of NR Design. The challenge was substantial – a multigenerational family sought to infuse modernity into a 25-year-old residence while preserving its treasured heirlooms. The vision was clear: a design that seamlessly blends tradition with contemporary aesthetics, creating a space that is both functional and timeless.
Navigating through the digital era’s visual overload, Nehaa Rakyan embraced the philosophy of “form follows function” to guide the design process. The result is a harmonious amalgamation of purposeful spaces within a neutral color palette, enhancing the luminosity of the entire residence. Clever alterations to the layout optimized natural light, creating specific zones for daily functions, such as a dedicated shoe room and a study area for the younger members of the family.
The design language unfolds with a monochromatic canvas, elevated by innovative choices like breathable and eco-friendly limewash on the walls, fabric sandwich glass partitions, and textured wallpapers. The introduction of soft circular elements and strategic splashes of color impart character and charm to each room, maintaining a cohesive yet distinct personality for every space.
A standout achievement in this project is the meticulously crafted home office – a testament to pushing design boundaries. Nehaa’s affinity for unconventional materials shines through in the seamless concrete flooring and a study table crafted from quartz, promoting wellness and prosperity. Vibrant furniture adds a lively touch to the office’s plain walls, creating a stimulating and cheerful ambiance. The thoughtfully curated reading nook within the home office not only offers a cozy retreat but also serves as a picturesque backdrop for virtual meetings.
One cannot overlook the bathroom attached to the home office, a bold and unique space featuring a vibrant color palette of green square subway tiles juxtaposed with a floating vanity and energetic terrazzo tiles. The frameless bathroom mirror provides the finishing touch, contributing to the overall cohesive design.
In the end, Nehaa has transformed this 25-year-old apartment into a space brimming with personality and unique touches. The luxurious yet purposeful design reflects the pride she takes in calling it her own. With every corner telling a story of thoughtful curation and inspired choices, the residence stands as a testament to the seamless marriage of luxury and purpose in interior design.
