Amidst the perpetual hustle and bustle of modern life, where the expectation to be ‘extra’ seems incessant—extra active, extra alert, extra social—this home in the maximum city offers one a respite from the chaos. Perched on the 9th floor of a residential enclave in Mumbai, this 865 sq-ft apartment by Rohit and Puja Gupta of RN DEESIGN embodies the essence of contemporary minimalism.
The homeowner envisioned a space that blends lightness and airiness. Consequently, the design brief was meticulously crafted to prioritise clean lines, neutral palettes and the strategic integration of textures and patterns to evoke visual intrigue.
Embracing a palette dominated by neutrals and whites, accentuated by subtle bursts of colour, the home achieves a delicate balance. This thoughtful curation not only enhances the perception of space but also ensures that essential furniture pieces command attention, imbuing each room with a sense of depth and individuality.
In the kitchen, one encounters a fusion of form and function. The all-white, semi-modular design is complemented by beige cabinets and a sleek countertop. A fluted glass sliding door ensures a seamless transition between spaces.

In the master bedroom, earthy tones reign supreme. A beige headboard, bed, and wardrobe serve as focal points, while splashes of colour inject vibrancy into the space. Similarly, the guest bedroom radiates warmth and modernity, with panelled walls and full-height mirrors creating an illusion of space and depth.
Central to the design of this home is its carefully curated material palette. From fluted laminate to marble finish flooring, each element has been chosen to enhance the overall aesthetic while maintaining a sense of cohesion and unity. In a world often defined by excess this home serves as a reminder that true beauty lies in simplicity.
