With a hint of caramel! This Ahmedabad home by Verizon Architects is a masterclass in minimal design

Ever been to a caramel factory? As you walks through the door, the air is filled with the rich smell of sugar being cooked to perfection. It’s like when you’re near the kitchen during the holidays and the scent of cookies fills the air. Huge pots of bubbling caramel, swirling and shimmering like liquid gold, greet your eyes. It’s mesmerising to watch, like seeing a magical potion being brewed right before your eyes. And the sound! The bubbling and sizzling fills the air with excitement and anticipation. Stepping into this home in Ahmedabad by Verizon Architects stirs similar feelings.

With everything on point—not too much, not too little—this home is nothing less than a guided tour of minimalism. There might be chaos outside—the irritating honks, brakes creaking and hawkers selling—but once you step inside, there is utmost silence, both literally and metaphorically.

Drawing inspiration from the soothing hues of caramel, the walls and furniture, with their rich tones, infuse the space with a sense of calmness. Amidst this caramel embrace, bright bursts of colour act as focal points, adding depth and character to the interior landscape, creating a canvas where every corner held a tale waiting to be discovered. “The infusion of vibrant colors in the form of artwork, textiles, furniture, and lighting creates a balanced and captivating atmosphere. It injects personality, energy, and a sense of playfulness into the apartment, making it a place that not only looks beautiful but also feels vibrant and inviting” says Akhil Gajjar, Ravi Pipalia and Yash Vachhani of Verizon Architects.

The palette, meticulously curated, strikes a delicate balance between serenity and vitality. Caramel served as the anchor, grounding the space, while vibrant accents breathed life into every corner, ensuring that the apartment pulsates with energy.

With every wall being almost pitch white, the pops of colour in decor elements and some texture here and there become the device channeling emotions and ideas. One can stand in different corners at different times, feel different emotions and gain motivation to do a bit more.

Amidst the beauty lies a commitment to sustainability. From eco-friendly materials to efficient space utilisation, every decision reflected a dedication to the planet and its future. Challenges loomed within the constraints of space, but with creativity as their guiding light, obstacles transformed into opportunities, each design stroke breathing life into the apartment’s unique identity.
