A slice of Spain! This farmhouse in Chhattisgarh by Azure Interiors is an Indian version of a European home

In the peaceful edges of Raipur, Chhattisgarh, there is a home that feels like a slice of Spain. Mayfair Farmhouse, a 7,500 sq ft farmhouse by Rashi Bothra and Ruchi Gehaniand of Azure Interiors. It’s like waltzing into a Spanish village but in India! It’s designed to make you feel at home, away from the noisy city, while still feeling connected to the earth around it.

Earth inspired!

As you approach the farmhouse, a wide front porch adorned with lush overflowing planters extends a warm invitation, reminiscent of quaint European abodes. Upon crossing the threshold, guests are cocooned in an earthy embrace. The living area with handcrafted wooden furniture evokes a sense of homecoming.

Journeying further, a passage leads to an informal living space where a swing by the window, crafted from dyed rattan and stained wood, offers panoramic views of the breathtaking landscape. Adjacent to this serene enclave lies the heart of the home — a dining space integrating with an open kitchen. Bathed in hues of pastel mint green, this culinary space fosters convivial gatherings.

Each bedroom within this rustic retreat offers respite from the chaos of daily life. From wooden bed frames accented with cane detailing to pastel-colored spaces to nurturing the soul, every inch of this abode teaches the art of mindful living.

The inner courtyard with patterned flooring and organic wall art is perfect to bask in the morning sun. Ascending the Italian staircase onto the first floor, there is an entertainment space completed with a pool table, cards table and a bar counter. The attached home theatre, with its foldable sliding glass partition, offers a chance for leisurely movie nights.

Championing eco-conscious living

The house reduces its environmental footprint by using natural fibers, earthy plasters and heat-absorbing tiles on the terrace floor. Natural fibres like linen, cotton and wool have been used for curtains, upholstery and bedding. While the artefacts are made of marble and ceramics.

This home is exactly where design, nature and heartfelt moments converge to nurture the soul.
