Located just 10 minutes away from Kanjur Marg railway station in Mumbai, this residential building of ground plus 7 floors offers two luxurious 3BHK apartments per floor. With the presence of being the only avant-garde building in its immediate context, this housing society by Sachin Goregaoker, Partner, GA Design is unmissable in its form and identity.
The design is highly efficient in terms of floor space and includes apartments with a view of the road in the front and open grounds in the rear. The building design is complimented by a sustainable vision for the entire area, strengthening the neighbourhood as a whole, particularly the busy road leading to the Kanjur Marg railway station.
Each apartment is intended to connect to the external environment by means of a wide deck, that essentially forms the main design feature of the building. In the process of developing the design further, the tapering decks with varying widths are connected with inclined walls to form a wrap-around design.
A compelling visual outcome is achieved by the design of alternating, angled balconies that animate the façade, especially when coupled with the interplay of light and shadow. The residents wanted full length balconies across the living room and bedroom, such as a full deck.
Instead of normal balconies stacked one on top of another, double-height balconies are provided to craft an open-to-sky experience, while allowing for cross-ventilation through the living-dining rooms. The design of the façade relies on carefully detailed concrete profiles, rather than the use of applied finishes. The crisp white & grey colour palette in the texture paint clearly defines the modern form of the building.
This housing society boasts of a small garden for its residents, a shopping area on the ground floor, solar panels on the terrace as well as puzzle parking for 30 cars.
