In the luxury home crafted by Design21, pastels reign supreme. Located in Victory Valley, Gurugram, this 3000-square-foot home by Design21 celebrates a contemporary yet classic design style that helps achieve balance and create intriguing contrasts.
In line with the homeowner’s affinity for a serene light-filled ambience with certain stand-out moments, Ar. Nikita and Ar. Gaurav took inspiration from the client’s personality and lifestyle to determine the visual style of the home. As a result, a muted colour palette of pastels along with the understated touches, defines the theme of this home. The design grammar coalesces contemporary with classic and is interspersed with hints of brass accents and a riot of colours from the artwork.
The Architects set the tone from the moment you enter, as the pastel blue door with the nameplate invites you to the home. The entry leads to the open-plan living and dining room where the subtle neutral palette soaks up the sun from large east-facing windows making the space feel expansive and bright.
The abundant accents of metal here bring a classic essence. “The composed palette of pastels and monochromes is highlighted by abstract artwork that splashes the much-needed contrast to the visual language. The combination feels unexpected but harmonious”, remarks Ar. Nikita Bajaj Pathak. A gilded ceiling against a neutral canvas, on the other side, forms a linear directional corridor that connects to different areas of the home.
A lounge is tucked beside the corridor with glass shutters and concealed white handles, making a subtle nod to the open expanse of the living-dining area. The kitchen, utility spaces, and servant quarters, thoughtfully integrated, exemplify functional design, facilitating effortless daily routines while upholding the aesthetic cohesion of the entire composition.
A masculine palette is deployed in the main bedroom, which is done up in an elegant and classic style. It gives continuity to the underlying theme of this classic yet contemporary home with subdued colours and hints of metal. However, the room carries a light and minimalist look that lets the neutral undertones shine.
The wallpaper gives a tropical vibe along with wooden flooring that spreads throughout the space. “Even though this room had minimal square footage, we were able to convert it into a multi-functional space to comfortably fit a bed, a study and a reading area, and a cosy corner with a two-seater arrangement”, proclaims Gaurav Pathak.
The same inventive use of colour continued in the other bedroom. An elliptical teal blue upholstered headboard enhanced the all-white canvas of the bedroom with colour. Windows run along the entire length of the room, wrapping it with tall pearl-white sheers. This bedroom also has glossy notes in the form of polished brass decor, door knobs, and pendant lights that glisten in the natural light flooding into the interior space.
Innovative use of materials such as veneers, Polyurethane, and Italian marble, becomes the embodiment of design ingenuity, elevating this home to an unparalleled level of distinction. On the other hand, lighting assumes an alluring role, delicately shaping the ambience with its nuanced interplay of light and shadows. Soft, inviting lighting accentuates the colourful artworks, with bespoke chandeliers adorning the living room and family lounge, creating an enchanting connection between these areas while setting the perfect tone for relaxation and social gatherings.
Thus, this home is an experimental take on the use of colourways and clever details, orchestrating a unique design choreography, where elegance, sophistication, and timeless beauty converge, creating an unparalleled living environment that transcends mere bricks and mortar.
