Peacock Life by Shabnam Gupta: A brand new store in Hyderabad reflecting the symphony of design, craft, and culture

In the vibrant tapestry of India’s design landscape, Shabnam Gupta stands as a luminary, weaving together the threads of tradition and modernity with her innate aesthetic sense. The latest jewel in her crown is ‘Peacock Life,’ her newly launched store in Hyderabad that transcends the ordinary; celebrating the inclusive nature of design through an exquisite array of decor and furniture pieces.

A Creative Renaissance in a Vintage Bungalow:

Nestled within the walls of a 6,000 square feet traditional bungalow, ‘Peacock Life’ emerged as Shabnam’s canvas for storytelling. Acquiring the space in January, Shabnam transformed it into a destination that goes beyond being a mere store; it’s a haven for all things home decor.

The two-level store retains the old-world charm of a vintage bungalow, seamlessly blending the nostalgia of the past with the promise of the future. Every nook and cranny breathes life into the brand’s ethos, emphasizing the rich tapestry of craft and culture that defines ‘Peacock Life.’

Design as a Journey:

The store is not just a collection of products; it’s a curated journey through the soul of design. The arrangement mirrors the structure of a home, inviting customers to visualize the eclectic and whimsical world of Peacock Life in their living spaces. Warm white tones illuminate the entire space, intentionally subdued to ensure that each product takes center stage.

Shabnam Gupta, the visionary behind the design, shares, “We have intentionally maintained a textured grey throughout the entire space, barring a couple of rooms, to make sure the product is the hero.”

A Symphony of Rooms:

Each room within ‘Peacock Life’ is a vignette, telling a unique story and showcasing the diversity of Indian craftsmanship:

The Textile Room: Draped in taupe mulmul fabric, with an oversized chandelier dominating the space.

The Blue Room: A mesmerizing display of Shabnam Blue, featuring fabric with vignettes of the natural world in painstaking detail.

The Red Room: Highlighted by a banjara ghaghra/swirling skirt hanging from the fan, creating a captivating visual dance.

The Grand Staircase: A charming blend of old-world charm, adorned with a cluster of chandeliers and hand-painted walls in dull gold and silver.

Beyond Shopping: A Sanctuary of Inspiration:

Shabnam Gupta, Founder and Creative Director of Peacock Life, expresses her excitement about introducing the distinctive collection to the discerning residents of Hyderabad. She envisions the store not just as a shopping destination but as a space where people find inspiration to elevate their living spaces.

“Our store represents not only a shopping destination but also a space where people can find inspiration and elevate their living spaces. We’ve carefully curated our selection to offer a harmonious blend of traditional and contemporary designs while closely working with Indian crafts and artisans,” she says.

‘Peacock Life’ is more than a store; it’s a testament to Shabnam Gupta’s brilliance, where design becomes a living, breathing entity that invites you to explore, imagine, and make a piece of it your own. It is a symphony of design, craft, and culture harmoniously orchestrated for those who seek to infuse their homes with soulful elegance. Welcome to a world where every piece tells a story – welcome to ‘Peacock Life.’
