Set within Kathiwada City House in Mumbai, Circle Sixty-Nine is a hidden gem nestled under the leafy canopies of Pochkhanawala Road. Now open for visitors, this galleria-bistro takes inspiration from European bistros, emphasising fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients. With the concept of uniting Food, Art, and Design, this curation is the brainchild of two visionary females, Aditi Dugar and Sangita Kathiwada, in cahoots with Apoorva Shroff, founder of lyth Design, and multiple proficient artists, who have made tremendous contributions to the city’s culinary, artistic, and design landscape.
The expanse of Circle Sixty-Nine transports you into a world of pure elegance. With a collaborative effort between architect and interior designer Apoorva Shroff of lyth design and Sangita Kathiwada, the interior design boasts a captivating blend of muted tones that creates a soothing and sophisticated vibe, while the use of natural materials complements the overall aesthetic. Carefully selected furniture pieces help exude a timeless charm to the space.
The meticulously curated tableware elevates the dining experience, reflecting the restaurant’s contemporary design philosophy and binding the overall aesthetic. Circle Sixty-Nine births from a 1940s bungalow, breathing new life into its historic walls. The bungalow has been thoughtfully redesigned and repurposed, preserving its timeless charm while embracing modern sensibilities. Stylish indoor and outdoor dining spaces have been created, providing guests with diverse options to savour their meals.
Just like the space it inhabits, the reimagined delicacies cater to a variety of tastes with an enchanting fusion of the old and new. At Circle Sixty-Nine, nature and architecture blend fluently. A fascinating metal archway poses as an ethereal entrance, standing amidst lush foliage and beautifying the outdoor dining experience. It also offers guests a verdant segue from the buzzing outdoors into a pleasant haven, acting as a path to some exemplary curations. “When Aditi approached us with her latest venture, we were thrilled to contribute to its design with Kathiwada City House as the backdrop; an exciting bistro debut for us.
Transforming this already stunning venue into something even more remarkable required only minor enhancements. The garden trellis effortlessly integrates with the flourishing garden, adding an exquisite touch to the overall ambiance. This creative endeavour is definitely a proud addition to lyth Design’s resume!”, Apoorva chimes in.
The bistro showcases an assortment of artworks, each boasting a unique style. Paintings from renowned Indian artists oversee the space, celebrating creativity and empowerment. Standing as an enchanting galleria-bistro, where culinary excellence intertwines with the captivating world of art, the restaurant features serene and welcoming interior design seamlessly blended in old-world charm and contemporary elements. Thus, one can expect a sophisticated and immersive dining experience amidst artsy and lush surroundings, nourishing the senses and gracefully ‘circling’ above the rest.
