Their portfolio demonstrates a culture of experimentation, consistently pushing design boundaries by exploring innovative approaches to enhance their projects.
Design Philosophy
SIAN Architects delves into creating thoughtfully designed spaces that transcend fleeting trends. Their approach is rooted in experimentation, material innovation and a dedication to crafting spaces with a unique identity. They prioritise collaboration and interdisciplinary synergy, pushing design boundaries while incorporating local craftsmanship and refined simplicity. Their philosophy is fueled by a commitment to authenticity and a profound understanding of each project’s context and purpose.
Breakthrough Project
One of their recent endeavors, The Urban Oasis, exemplifies this ethos by merging residential design with industrial elements. This bold project challenges conventional architecture, featuring a unique blend of rustic materials such as fly ash bricks and raw concrete. Its character is defined by a central courtyard and light courts, which transform the space into a serene retreat with soft interiors. By integrating their design voice, Urban Oasis sets a precedent for future work, marrying innovation, bold materiality and refined simplicity. Looking ahead, they’re also addressing structural challenges in a new project in Noida, which includes striking 30-foot cast in-situ concrete arches—an ambitious feat in residential design. Additionally, The Elephant Pavilion in Tamil Nadu stands out for its commitment to nature, crafted from rammed earth and bamboo, respecting the surrounding wildlife and serving as a vibrant community space. Each project reflects their dedication to innovative design and environmental harmony.
Future Vision
While trends may come and go, they believe that spaces grounded in context and purpose are timeless. Their vision is to design built environments that are contextually coherent and enduring. They emphasise a thorough understanding of each project’s environment, integrating climate-conscious practices and minimising carbon footprints as core elements of our work. Resource sharing and community collaboration are becoming increasingly vital, enriching architectural discourse. Furthermore, the revival of Indian craft and art is a promising trend that they hope will continue to shape and enhance their design practice.
