PROJECT IN FOCUS – THE CABIN HOUSE
Location: Bengaluru
Typology: Residential
Year of completion: 2023
Design Concept: Vernacular influences fused with a minimal design language
Material Palette: Earthy tones evoke the setting sun, while the starkness of cement and warm tones of furniture offer depth
What we heart: Its seamless integration with nature, blurring the lines between the built and natural environments
The Cabin House by Taliesyn is a one-bedroom weekend home in South Bengaluru, designed as a retreat from urban realities and a celebration of nature. The 349 sq m rectangular dwelling is nestled among jackfruit and mango trees, with pivoted doors blurring the boundaries between the landscape and the residence. The architecture of The Cabin House draws inspiration from simple forms and native bearings. The interior of the rectangular volume is broken effortlessly into a double height living, dining and kitchen with a mezzanine floor on one end to accommodate the master bedroom. Earthy tones throughout the dwelling evoke the setting sun, whilst the starkness of the cement and warm tones of the furniture offer the required depth. Below the mezzanine is the washroom that features a cast in-situ island-concrete basin overlooking the landscape and a full-sized walk-in closet.
