PROJECT IN FOCUS – Meraki
Location: Nagpur
Year of Completion: 2023
Typology: Second home
What We Heart: Cozy nooks and outdoor lounging areas, integrated with passive cooling strategies

Oriented Courtyard: Passive cooling strategies, such as orienting the courtyard according to wind direction and solar path, enhance comfort and reduce reliance on mechanical cooling systems.
Maximizing Natural Ventilation and Daylight: By positioning the courtyard to capture prevailing breezes and optimize solar exposure, natural ventilation and daylight can be maximized throughout the home.
High Ceilings for Enhanced Airflow: Incorporating high ceilings in circulation areas promotes upward air movement, facilitating the flow of cooler air from the courtyard into the living spaces, creating a natural cooling effect, keeping the interior spaces comfortable even during hot weather.

The second home by Ritu and Associates, designed for a couple, serves as a serene retreat amidst urban chaos, offering a tranquil escape where they can reconnect with nature and find respite from city life. Situated amidst tranquil surroundings, the home functions as a sanctuary where they can unwind and recharge while managing their work remotely. The design prioritizes comfort, functionality, and a seamless indoor-outdoor flow, allowing for plenty of natural light and breathtaking views. Thoughtful touches such as cozy nooks for reading or reflection and outdoor lounging areas contribute to the home’s ambiance of relaxation and rejuvenation. A well-appointed kitchen designed for family gatherings enhances the functionality of the space, fostering a sense of togetherness and comfort.

The design pays homage to the surrounding environment by incorporating elements of local craftsmanship and materials, fostering a deeper connection to the land. Overall, the second home strikes a perfect balance between modern convenience and rustic charm, offering the occupants a retreat where they can create cherished memories with their family.
