What comes to your mind when you think of ‘Maldives’—50 shades of blue, beautiful pristine waters, white sand, the undisputed honeymoon destination for newly wedded Indians, a lover’s getaway, plenty seafood and underwater sports? But what you cannot fathom (unless you’ve been there) is the level of overwhelm and awestruck that will hit you right outside the Male airport. Everywhere you see, there’s breathtaking beauty. Nestled in the sparsely populated Lhaviyani Atoll amidst the captivating tropical archipelago of the Maldives, Kanifushi Island beckons, a mere 35-minute seaplane transfer away from Male’ International Airport.
Invited to partake in the Atmosphere Kanifushi for the Just Veg Festival, curated by the esteemed chef Fabrizio Marino from Ristorante Maggese in Tuscany, the experience commenced with a glimpse of top-tier hospitality as the Atmosphere Kanifushi staff graciously escorted our media group to the Coral Lounge, a VIP sanctuary within Trans Maldivian Airways, setting the tone for a seamless and hassle-free stay.
Over the course of four nights and five days, the staff not only met our needs but anticipated them with an unmatched level of dedication. Traditional Boduberu drums welcomed us, along with a glass of sparkling champagne, setting the stage for an unforgettable stay.
The Sunset Beach Villas, our abode for the duration, epitomised luxury. Among the largest entry-level beach-front villas in the Maldives, these elegantly designed retreats prioritised guest comfort. With high ceilings and open-air bathrooms as unique selling points, the villas lined the beach, each offering direct access to the pristine shoreline just meters away from their expansive open-air verandas.
The pinnacle of our culinary journey unfolded at the ‘Just Veg Festival’ gala dinner; curated by Italian Chef Fabrizio Marino at JUST VEG— the first à la carte vegetarian restaurant in the Maldives serving choicest gourmet cuisines from Arabic, Indian, and Mediterranean regions. We were hosted by Mr. Ram Bhoyroo – General Manager & Ms. Sarah Walker Kerr – VP Communications who revealed that this exciting four-day JUST VEG culinary celebration is in line with Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts’ philosophy, ‘Joy of Giving’.
Atmosphere Kanifushi, with its 162 stand-alone villas and suites, weaves a tapestry of experiences rooted in the natural and cultural environment of the region. Nine categories, including seven types of land villas and two types of water villas, are meticulously designed and separated by lush tropical gardens, ensuring privacy.
The island tour, led by Ms. Shiruhaana Rasheedh, Assistant Manager – Communications, showcased the thoughtful design language of Kanifushi’s villas. Seamlessly blending island living charm with modern amenities, each villa boasts expansive private outdoor spaces and exquisitely designed interiors.
A myriad of activities engaged us throughout our stay: starting with the welcome A La Carte’ Dinner at THE PIER SIX – Speciality Seafood Over Water Fine Dining, early morning Sound Healing Session by in-house instructor at THE SPICE Coconut Garden, Beyond Horizon Yoga for Wellness of Mind & Body with their inhouse instructor at The Liquid Deck Pool Bar, various lunch and dinners at THE SUNSET, light meals at THE CEYLON BLISS, a floating lunch at the family dream hideaway Kanifushi Residence amidst the standout free form swimming pool, Karaoke Nights at The Liquid Tree, Planting Activity, spa at Akiri by Mandara Spa, the Sunset Fishing Cruise, visit to the local island – Naifaru and Turtle Rehab Center, island Nature Walk hosted by Mr. Hema – Landscaping Manager and Farewell Dinner served on The Beach facing the blue lagoon and the white sand under your feet hosted by Ms. Seema Misra – Manager Content Development.
Amidst stunning vistas, avant-garde design sensibilities, impeccable services, and the endearing hospitality of Atmosphere Kanifushi, our media group forged lasting memories and lifelong bonds. Traveling to Atmosphere Kanifushi, Maldives, is not merely a journey; it’s a sensory immersion into a world where natural beauty reigns supreme, and each day unfolds as a masterpiece. The constant sense of awe becomes a companion, guiding you through an enchanting tapestry of sun, sea, and endless horizons.
