PROJECT IN FOCUS – Baroque Reverie
Location: Mumbai
Typology: Residential
Design Concept: Classic Luxury
Year of Completion: 2023
Material Palette: Wood, Marble
What we Heart: The Studio Workspace which features an elegant floral wall covering
This home combines opulence with subtlety — from the flooring and the ornate detailing to the wall embellishments, all provide a classic touch, juxtaposing the modern elements. Every room is a testament to classic elegance with a serene colour scheme. The classical design of the furniture, with its white carved wood and soft upholstery, offers comfort and luxury. The house speaks to a refined taste, where luxury is expressed through quality materials and craftsmanship, and the design supports a timeless aesthetic that combines the best of classic and contemporary styles.
When the client is a fashion designer and makeup artist, there is clarity in the kind of style and colour palette to be followed. For Dipttii Khanna it thus became easy to start the design process of creating a white modern classic house where each area looks different yet brings together the whole house in a cohesive manner. The design theme of this house is rooted in classic luxury with a contemporary touch and each element of the house reflects a modern classic look. Most challenging for Dipttii, however, was to follow vastu diktats in the use of certain colours and placement of mirrors and electrical points, but the team managed to achieve the same and make the place functional practical and aesthetically in sync with the client’s wishes.
Each area has its own standout element that becomes a cynosure – the carved marble piece behind the sofa, the blue agate wall in the passage, the heavily detailed puja room, the sliding wall panel that hides the mirror in the parents’ room, the ornate wall feature mirroring the headboard’s classic design in the master bedroom that adds elegant touch to the walls, or the vibrant colours and bold patterns of the studio cum workspace, especially the floral wall covering, which energizes the space and inspires creativity.
